Parents, you have the right to view your child’s WASL test. For eight years, the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) has been violating federal law by denying parents the right to see their children’s tests.

Parent Empowerment Network is working to preserve your rights.  OSPI is attempting to limit parental rights by destroying WASL tests. We have learned that all test booklets prior to 2004 have already been destroyed. This means that state mandated student learning plans for this year’s 10th graders are being based on scores on WASL tests that have been destroyed. Parents have no proof that those scores are accurate. In fact, the same company that scores WASL made mistakes in Minnesota which caused the misscoring of 47,000 tests.

What can you do?  Ask to see your child’s test!  Fill out the form below and send it to the address indicated. Be sure to keep a copy for your records. Federal law allows the state 45 days to comply with a parent’s request to view the test.
