I am writing to inform you that keeping my student , ________________________________, idle during WASL testing will not be acceptable.

 

State law requires my child to be in school each day as per RCW 28A.225.010. Failure to actively engage any child while they are in a required school environment is neglect.

 

Active engagement of my child could include assisting a teacher, completing regular assignments or a special project in the library, etc. There are many opportunities and options to keep a child engaged in a learning environment.

 

If you are unable to find a way to engage my student during testing time, I will be removing her/him from school during testing time in the form of an excused absence.

 

Please notify me as to the appropriate actions you will be taking.
